Air Tanzania Launches Direct Flights Between Dar es Salaam and Seychelles
Air Tanzania has launched three weekly non-stop flights connecting Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR) in Dar es Salaam with Seychelles International Airport (SEZ) on Mahé Island. Operating on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, the new route eliminates the need for connecting flights between the two destinations, improving accessibility for leisure and business travellers across the region.
The service is expected to stimulate tourist flows in both directions, giving travellers from Tanzania and neighbouring countries easier access to Seychelles' beach resorts, while opening a more direct gateway for Seychelles visitors to explore Tanzania's wildlife, culture and heritage - including the Serengeti, Mount Kilimanjaro and the Zanzibar archipelago. Tourism stakeholders anticipate a positive impact on hotel occupancy, tour operations and related services, while the route also supports broader efforts to position Dar es Salaam as a key regional aviation hub. Industry observers say the connection is well placed to attract international travellers seeking combined safari and island itineraries across East Africa and the Indian Ocean.
