To mark World Rhino Day, Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti has announced a new long-term funding commitment to the Frankfurt Zoological Society’s Rhino Conservation Project in the Serengeti National Park, which supports a number of mobile anti-poaching units operated by Tanzania National Parks to safeguard the critically endangered species.

The month of September was a unique and exciting one for the communities in the Dete area, on the border of Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe. Samara Private Game Reserve, home of the Tracker Academy, is proud to celebrate the Academy’s tenth anniversary this month. Alex van den Heever, General Manager of the Tracker Academy, says that the NGO – which falls under the banner of the South African College for Tourism and is funded by the Peace Parks Foundation – was established at Samara Private Game Reserve in 2010, with just eight students, thanks to the generosity of Mrs Gaynor Rupert.

South Africa: The Endangered Wildlife Trust’s Lowveld Birds of Prey team had a remarkable encounter in the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve recently.

A fitness room has been built at Victoria Falls Safari Lodge, offering guests an unrivalled view of bushveld to the horizon, with the opportunity to spot wildlife at the onsite waterhole during their work out. Wildlife frequenting the waterhole at Victoria Falls Safari Lodge includes elephant, buffalo and kudu, and occasionally lion – last week a lioness thrilled guests when she spent most of the day there. While bushbuck and warthog may be seen wandering past the window of the fitness room.
