Proflight Zambia has expanded its fleet with a fifth Bombardier CRJ-200 passenger jet, strengthening its position as Zambia's leading scheduled airline. The new aircraft, arriving from Canada, brings the carrier's total fleet to 12 aircraft, following the addition of a British Aerospace Jetstream 4100 in July.

The journey from Canada to Lusaka involved six fuel stops, including Great Falls, Winnipeg, Iqaluit, Reykjavik, Prague, Luxor, and Addis Ababa, taking approximately 24 hours of flight time. The acquisition was facilitated by aviation services company Avmax.

Maintenance Manager Eric Simukonde highlighted the CRJ-200's suitability for regional operations, citing its fuel efficiency, passenger comfort, and reliability. The airline emphasises its commitment to safety standards, adhering to International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) regulations.

This expansion aims to enhance regional connectivity in Southern Africa, with plans to introduce more routes. The development represents significant growth for Zambia's aviation industry, supporting both business and tourism sectors while creating employment opportunities. The aircraft is currently awaiting clearance and registration on the Zambian register.
