Mozambique: LAM to Start Flights to Dubai and China by July
Mozambique's state airline LAM plans to launch regular flights to Dubai and Guangzhou, China by July, the company's general director Theunis Crous announced on Wednesday.
"We hope to launch for Dubai and Guangzhou in the next three months – in June or July," Crous said while unveiling LAM's first cargo plane in Maputo. The new routes come as part of broader restructuring efforts. Crous, who is also a director at the South African firm overseeing LAM's overhaul, said the company is "stabilising" under a "defined plan".
Deputy Transport Minister Amilton Alissone stated the government's "extraordinary intervention" in LAM's management last year has led to signs of improvement, including increased domestic flights, new regional routes and a 30% fare reduction on some destinations.
