Tanzania has kicked off the China-Tanzania Tourism and Culture Year, aiming to attract more Chinese visitors. The East African nation, renowned for its stunning natural landscapes and rich biodiversity, is launching targeted marketing campaigns in China to promote its wildlife safaris, pristine beaches, cultural heritage, and adventure activities.
Tanzania's Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism, Angellah Kairuki, stated that the initiative would foster mutual understanding through cultural exchange events, festivals, and exhibitions in both countries. The country boasts seven UNESCO World Heritage sites and is prioritising sustainable tourism practices, including community-based conservation, anti-poaching efforts, and eco-friendly lodging options.
Kairuki highlighted Tanzania's commitment to combating climate change through renewable energy investments, ecosystem protection, and public education. The China-Tanzania Tourism and Culture Year is expected to significantly boost Chinese tourists' interest in Tanzania's diverse attractions, while celebrating 60 years of diplomatic ties between the two nations.
