To coincide with the reopening of King’s Pool Camp on 16 June 2019, Wilderness Safaris, in partnership with Helicopter Horizons, will be introducing scenic helicopter flights from all of its camps in the Linyanti, Botswana.

“It is from the air that one can truly appreciate the wonders of the Linyanti, which is why we’re thrilled to launch this new activity for our guests on the day that King’s Pool reopens. This gives us another opportunity to share the wonders of the Linyanti with our guests, whilst at the same time making a positive difference to the conservation of this vast, pristine concession. Not only do the helicopter flights offer life-changing adventures, they will also perform an additional security role; assisting our conservation team with wildlife monitoring and monthly wildlife counts in the more remote areas of the Linyanti”, commented Kim Nixon, Wilderness Safaris Botswana MD.

Although based at King’s Pool, the helicopter flight is available from all Wilderness Safaris camps in the Linyanti. Departing between 11h00 and 15h00 daily when wildlife density is high, the scenic flight will soar along the last clearly visible fault line of the Great African Rift Valley and out over the Linyanti wetlands to the river, where massive pods of hippo and huge crocodiles splash and roll. Sitatunga look up from the reeds and elephant in their hundreds are grey spots amongst the green and khaki. It then follows the snaking curves of the Savute Channel from its source, landing at the headwaters, for guests to celebrate the huge densities of game seen from the air with a glass of champagne before returning to camp.
