This is one of our favorite times of the year - we're emerging from that beautiful lull between the New Year, when we wonder when the rains will arrive and when finally the plains and hills of East Africa breathe a sigh of relief and positively bloom with fresh new growth and the calves and cubs take their first tentative steps.

We are absolutely delighted to share our new Lemala website with you all. Our website reflects just how important our communities are - our staff, our travel industry friends all over the world and our local communities coming together to create memorable and authentic Lemala experiences, ~ what we refer to as The Spirit Of Lemala.

Newsflash! Every one of our 267 Lemala staff are now fully vaccinated with either the Johnson and Johnson vaccine in Tanzania or Astra Zeneca in Uganda.

Please be advised that Covid testing is now available at Seronera, located in the Central Serengeti. The new Seronera Covid-19 Collection Centre is looking great, it has plenty of open space, fresh air, clean facilities and clear instructions.

The entire Lemala Wildwaters Team is thrilled to announce the start of renovation work on our iconic and much loved Wildwaters Lodge on a private Island on the River Nile, Uganda.

Lemala Ndutu is showcasing its newly refurbished look, nearly ready to welcome in our guests and the hundreds of thousands of wildebeests coming directly our way.

We're eagerly looking forward to the on-set of our short rainy season and the life it brings to the plains, rivers and hills of northern Tanzania. The great herds pivot, recrossing rivers and pressing on urgently into the heart of the Serengeti, anxious to ensure they access the highly nutritious grasses brought on by the short sharp downpours.

At Lemala Camps & Lodges, we’ve been preparing to welcome tourists back to Tanzania by making changes to the way we provide our services. New SOPs are in place for every touch point and guest experience that characterises a stay at a Lemala property. Our SOPs will be updated in line with the Government of Tanzania’s instructions to the hospitality industry.

Lemala Camps and Lodges is super proud to share with you our latest achievement.  As part of the refurbishment of our Lemala Ngorongoro Tented Camp we partnered with Dunia Designs to remove 7.6 tons of plastic from our National Parks and surrounding areas and turned it into a fully sustainable new deck for our main dining and lounge areas.  The finished product blends beautifully with the new interiors and that is 7.6 tons of plastic that wont find its way to landfill.  Come and see for yourself www.lemalacamp.com

Lemala Camps and Lodges has announced the appointment of Africa in Your Hands to represent their properties in the South African market from next year. With eight properties throughout Northern Tanzania and Uganda, ranging from intimate tented camps, to classic safari lodges and refined villas, Lemala Camps and Lodges is a leading provider of beautiful and elegant accommodation in some of the world’s most celebrated wildlife regions.

Lemala Camps & Lodges will re-open a fully refurbished camp in Ndutu at the beginning of December 2019.  The camp will retain is premium location on the water course and will open with all new soft furnishings throughout and a complete refurbishment of the lounge tent and the dining tent.  The interiors will be softer, warmer and elegant without losing the charm and authenticity of a mobile tented camp.

From its origins as a Maasai symbol of warrior status, to an instrument of relaxation, the rungu is taking the world of spa treatments by storm with the growing popularity of the African Rungu Massage. But back home where the massage has its roots, it’s proving to be a popular cultural experience for tourists.

Lemala Camps & Lodges are pleased to announce to our trade partners that after a complete major refurbishment Lemala Ngorongoro Tented Camp re-opened on 12th April 2019. Both the main communal tent with comfortable lounge and bar and the nine spacious guest tents have been fully upgraded with new furniture, soft furnishings and décor, and 100% recycled decking on the floors that has been produced locally from recycled plastic collected in and around Arusha in Tanzania. Additionally, we have installed innovative new charging stations that allow guests to each have a separate lockable charging drawer for their cameras, phones and other devices.
