Kenya Reinforces Aviation-Tourism Integration at UN Summit in Angola

Kenya has reaffirmed its commitment to aligning aviation and tourism policies to accelerate job creation, attract investment, and enhance destination competitiveness across Africa. Speaking during the 2nd UN Tourism and ICAO Ministerial Summit in Luanda, Angola, the Principal Secretary for Aviation and Aerospace Development, Teresia Mbaika, highlighted Kenya’s approach to bridging air connectivity with tourism growth. Recent measures include visa-free access for all African travellers and improved infrastructure at points of entry to enhance accessibility and visitor experience.

The Kenyan delegation also held bilateral meetings with key aviation leaders, including the ICAO Council President and Angola’s Minister for Transport, agreeing on steps to deepen regional cooperation through technical exchanges and an updated air services agreement. With Kenya’s pending aviation infrastructure upgrades and the upcoming TAAG Angola Airlines direct flight to Nairobi, stakeholders signalled strong intent to bolster intra-African connectivity. This forms part of a broader whole-of-government strategy to align transport policies with tourism demand and continental development priorities.
