Cape Town Set for International Flight Boost as Airlines Expand Spring Services
International flight capacity to Cape Town is set to increase significantly this spring, with several airlines adding new routes or expanding existing frequencies. KLM increased its Amsterdam - Cape Town service from daily to ten flights per week from 31 August, while Edelweiss resumes its Zurich seasonal service from 5 September. Norse Atlantic Airways launches a direct London Gatwick - Cape Town seasonal service from 10 September, followed by Condor's return of its Frankfurt - Cape Town non-stop seasonal service on 17 September. Air France resumes its Paris CDG - Cape Town seasonal route from 23 September with an expanded season, and Turkish Airlines increases its Istanbul - Cape Town service from seven to ten weekly flights in October. Airlink will also introduce two new direct routes from Cape Town to Mauritius and Cape Town to Zanzibar in October.
The expanded airline capacity arrives against a backdrop of strong passenger growth at Cape Town International Airport. According to Wesgro, the city recorded 242 077 two-way international passengers in July 2026, a 10 percent increase on the same period last year. Domestic passenger volumes reached 615 536 two-way passengers during the same month, up 1 percent year-on-year - the first domestic growth recorded since March, supported by the local holiday period and some relief from lower fuel prices.
