Kenya and Angola agree to support revival of Luanda air link
Direct flights between Kenya and Angola will resume in March 2025, following an official announcement at presidential-level talks in Luanda on January 9.
The commitment to restore Kenya Airways services to Luanda was confirmed during a meeting between Kenyan President William Ruto and Angolan President João Lourenço at the Angolan presidential palace. The air link forms part of broader bilateral agreements, including Angola's planned waiver of visa requirements for Kenyan visitors.
"This move will enable our professionals like teachers to access Angola much more easily," President Ruto said at the announcement.
The high-level meeting also addressed continental issues including peace initiatives in the Great Lakes region, African Union reforms, and the upcoming AU Commission chairperson elections. Both leaders emphasised the need for coordinated peace efforts between the Southern African Development Community and the East African Community.
The restoration of direct flights is expected to significantly enhance business and diplomatic ties between the two nations, supporting increased trade and professional exchange.
