Egypt Records 7% Rise in Tourist Arrivals in First Four Months of 2026

Egypt welcomed 6.1 million tourists in the first four months of 2026, a 7% increase on the 5.7 million arrivals recorded during the same period in 2025, according to government figures. The growth follows a strong 2025, when annual arrivals rose 20.5% compared with 2024, reflecting sustained momentum in the country's tourism sector. Egypt currently receives visitors from 179 countries and has set a target of attracting 30 million tourists annually by 2030, with tailored promotional strategies in place for individual markets.

Key demand drivers include the Grand Egyptian Museum in Cairo, which officially opened in November 2025 and showcases 7,000 years of history, as well as Red Sea resorts, which have consistently ranked among the world's best-value destinations in annual Post Office Travel Money surveys. Britain's The Times recently described Egypt as an outstanding and affordable destination, noting that few countries could rival its tourism momentum in recent years. London-based Advantage Travel Partnership, which represents independent travel agencies, has also consistently ranked Egypt among its top-selling destinations.
