Egypt and Uganda in Talks to Develop Joint Multi-Destination Tourism Packages
The Egyptian Travel Agents Association (ETAA) has held talks with a senior delegation from the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) to explore joint tourism programmes, investment opportunities and mechanisms to increase tourist flows between the two countries. Discussions focused on developing integrated multi-destination itineraries that combine Egypt's and Uganda's respective tourism offerings, with long-haul markets - particularly the Far East, Australia, and North and South America - identified as primary targets. ETAA Chairperson Nader El-Beblawi underscored Egypt's interest in deepening cooperation with African nations, particularly Nile Basin states, pointing to Uganda's wildlife, safari, adventure tourism and lake and forest environments as complementary to Egypt's cultural and historical assets.
Both sides agreed to organise a series of joint workshops in Egypt and Uganda to advance practical cooperation. The Ugandan delegation, which included senior government officials and leading hotel sector investors, described Egypt as Africa's leading tourism destination and expressed interest in drawing on Egyptian expertise to support Uganda's own tourism development. Nancy Abdel Hady, Uganda's Goodwill Ambassador to Egypt and Executive Director of the African Tourism Authority, noted that additional Ugandan delegations are expected to visit Egypt in the coming period to explore further cooperation opportunities.
