Egypt to Develop 14 Red Sea Tourist Centres in Major Coastal Expansion
Egypt is set to develop 14 new tourist centres along the Red Sea coast as part of a strategic plan to boost the region's investment potential. Mostafa Abdel Wahab, CEO of the General Authority for Tourism Development, presented the scheme to Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, outlining plans to expand hotel capacity through targeted coastal allocations, while designating inland areas for secondary homes, hotel-managed units, staff housing, and supporting services.
The development strategy will divide the Red Sea coastline into specialised tourism zones based on each area's natural resources, location, and competitive advantages, with a focus on beach, ecotourism, and wellness offerings. Abdel Wahab also presented plans for northeastern Sinai, including the West Arish Tourist Centre spanning approximately 9,000 feddans, the city of Arish, and the Zaranik area on Lake Bardawil - developments aimed at unlocking the region's tourism, environmental, agricultural, and logistical potential.
