ATTA Events - Buyer Engagement Manager

Job Title: Buyer Engagement Manager (African Tourism Focus)

Department: ATTA® Events

Reports To: CEO, ATTA® Events

Summary:

ATTA® Events is seeking a dynamic and experienced Buyer Engagement Manager to join our team. In this pivotal mid-to-senior level role, you will be the driving force behind fostering strong relationships with our key buyers, who include Tour Operators, Independent Consultants, Travel Agents, MICE agents, African Specialist Operators, and to a lesser extent, media and journalists. Your primary focus will be on engaging buyers from our key source markets: the UK & Ireland, Continental Europe, and North America. The ideal candidate will already possess a strong network within these markets. Your deep understanding of the tourism industry, ideally with a focus on Africa, will be crucial in cultivating these relationships, driving attendance at our events, and ultimately expanding our reach within the market.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Buyer Recruitment, Engagement & Management:
    • Leverage your existing network to proactively identify, recruit, and cultivate relationships with key buyers across all relevant sectors within our target source markets.
    • Manage buyer engagement throughout the event lifecycle, from initial contact to post-event follow-up, ensuring a positive and impactful experience
    • Develop and implement strategies to increase buyer attendance, satisfaction, and loyalty, tailored to the specific needs and preference of each source market.
  • Event Support:
    • Collaborate with internal teams on event communication, promotion, and planning, with a focus on buyer-centric messaging and value propositions that resonate with our target markets.
    • Contribute to the development of compelling event content and marketing materials that appeal to buyers from the UK & Ireland, Continental Europe and North America.
    • Assist in the logistical execution of events, paying close attention to buyer needs and preferences from different source markets.
  • Communication & Liaison:
    • Serve as a liaison with our PR & Communications agency, ensuring alignment on messaging and strategy, particularly as it relates to buyer engagement in our target markets.
    • Facilitate effective communication between internal teams and external partners, with a focus on clear and transparent buyer communication across all source markets.
    • Represent ATTA® Events at industry events and networking opportunities, actively engaging with potential buyers from the UK & Ireland, Continental Europe, and North America
  • Reporting & Analysis:
    • Prepare comprehensive reports on event performance, with a particular emphasis on buyer attendance, engagement, and feedback, segmented by source market
    • Analyse data to identify areas for improvement and inform future buyer engagement and event strategies to each target market
    • Present findings to internal and external stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in the tourism industry, ideally with a focus on Africa and a demonstrable track record of working with buyers from the UK & Ireland, Continental Europe, and North America
  • An established network of contacts within the travel trade in our key source markets is essential
  • Strong track record of buyer engagement and relationship management within the specified source markets.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar tools.
  • Self-motivated, organised, and able to prioritise tasks effectively.

Additional Desirable Qualities:

  • Familiarity with event management software.
  • Fluency in additional languages spoken in African tourism markets.
  • Passion for travel and the African continent.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

This role is based at ATTA HQ in Parsons Green 3 days a week with Monday & Friday working from home
