Overview

Summer Rylander is a freelance travel and science journalist covering the conservation of our biodiverse planet. She writes about wildlife, land use, community-based tourism, positive-impact travel, wellness and adventure for publications including National Geographic Traveller, the i paper, The Times, Wanderlust, Jetsetter, Nautilus, Travel + Leisure and more. Summer is especially passionate about Eastern and Southern Africa, where she has summited Mt. Kilimanjaro, wild camped through the Okavango Delta and narrowly avoided being chucked from a boat when it was rammed by a (rightfully territorial) hippo. Though originally from the United States, Summer has called Nuremberg, Germany home since late 2015. She's also a member of the Adventure Travel Trade Association and the International Travel Writers Alliance.
