Overview

I am an award-nominated freelance travel writer, adventurer and after-dinner speaker based in the UK. I specialise in African destinations and have visited 39 African nations. My travels in Africa total more than 2 years of traversing its highways, byways, and national parks largely solo and by public forms of transport.

My portfolio includes writing on South Africa, Egypt, Kenya, Sierra Leone and Saint Helena for publications and websites including The i, Daily Mail, JRNY, Voyagers Voice, Africa Geographic and weather2travel. I am also working with Bradt, the world's leading independent travel publisher, after being approached out of the blue. I will update their popular Ghana guide, the only guidebook dedicated to the country.

A National Geographic Traveller travel writing competition runner-up, I am also a finalist for Travel Blog Post of the Year in the British Guild of Travel Writers Members’ Excellence Awards 2023, after an anonymised submission process overseen by sister organisations in the US and Australia.
