Zambia backs Africa Bike Culture Festival to grow adventure tourism

Africa Bike Culture has reaffirmed its support for the Zambian government’s tourism ambitions with the launch of the Africa Bike Culture Festival, positioning the country as a regional hub for motorcycle tourism. Speaking at the launch on 5 December 2025, CEO Luckie Chiyowele and Tourism Minister Rodney Sikumba highlighted biking’s role as an economic driver and a tool for destination diversification. The festival will take place in Livingstone from 22 to 29 May 2026, with participants expected from more than ten African countries.

Officials pointed to Zambia’s central location and growing credentials in adventure tourism, citing the recent Mosi‑oa‑Tunya Rally that drew riders from across the region. The initiative aligns with the Eighth National Development Plan and the Tourism Master Plan (2022–2038), with government backing for biker‑led safety campaigns to support wider road safety objectives. Organisers and government stakeholders say streamlined collaboration with the biking community can broaden tourism products, stimulate community engagement and strengthen regional connectivity.
