Mercedes-Benz World Tour Puts Zambia's Tourism in the Global Spotlight

Zambia is hosting a 17-member Mercedes-Benz delegation as part of the brand's "140 Years, 140 Places" World Tour, a global expedition commemorating 140 years since Karl Benz patented the automobile in 1886. The delegation, led by Christian David Schmidt and comprising 14 German nationals, two South Africans and one Austrian, entered Zambia through the Nakonde Border Post on 18 August from Tanzania and is scheduled to depart on 22 August via the Victoria Falls Border into Zimbabwe. The convoy is travelling across six continents, more than 55 countries and 140 destinations as part of the worldwide tour.

Zambia's Ministry of Tourism and the Zambia Tourism Agency (ZTA) have facilitated a 1,500-kilometre route from Nakonde to Livingstone, with a scheduled stop in Lusaka. Key filming and promotional activities are planned at the Victoria Falls Bridge, Livingstone Island and Mukuni Village, where the delegation will attend cultural performances and meet Senior Chief Mukuni. Content generated during the visit is expected to be distributed internationally through Mercedes-Benz's digital platforms, offering Zambia significant exposure to a global audience. The delegation will continue its journey through Zimbabwe, Botswana and South Africa upon departure.
