Zambia and Egypt deepen tourism and cultural ties ahead of GEM opening
Zambia’s Minister of Tourism, Rodney Sikumba, met Egypt’s Ambassador to Zambia, Mayada Essam, in Lusaka on 22 October 2025 to advance cooperation in tourism development, cultural heritage promotion and capacity building. The meeting also noted Egypt’s invitation to President Hakainde Hichilema to attend the official opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum in Cairo on 1 November 2025.
Both sides signalled intent to collaborate on training, destination management and cultural exchange, alongside joint efforts in heritage conservation and tourism promotion. The partnership aims to strengthen skills, visibility and visitor flows between the two countries – showcasing African heritage to global audiences.
