Tunisia Surpasses 5.8 Million International Arrivals by End of July
Tunisia welcomed more than 5.8 million international tourists in the first seven months of 2026, signalling continued strong momentum in the country's tourism season. The figures were confirmed by Anes Ben Gharbal, head of communications at Tunisia's Ministry of Tourism and Handicrafts, and reflect sustained international demand for the North African destination, which draws visitors to its Mediterranean coastline, beach resorts, historic cities and cultural sites.
The performance is particularly significant for Tunisia's broader economy, where tourism remains a critical source of foreign currency and supports a wide network of hotels, restaurants, transport operators and tour companies. The strong visitor numbers build on a recovery that has seen arrivals return to and surpass pre-pandemic levels in recent years, following disruption caused by COVID-19 and earlier security concerns. The government has been working to attract visitors from a broader range of international markets, promoting Tunisia's combination of Mediterranean beaches, historical heritage and cultural attractions. The 2026 figures suggest those efforts are delivering results during what is shaping up to be a robust summer season.
