Air Algérie Launches First Direct Manchester-Algiers Service This Summer

Air Algérie is set to launch the first ever direct flights between Manchester and Algiers, with a twice-weekly service commencing on 14 June 2026. Operating on Tuesdays and Sundays using Boeing 737 aircraft, the route will make Manchester the only UK airport outside London with a direct link to the Algerian capital. The airline becomes the fourth African carrier to operate from Manchester, joining Royal Air Maroc, Egyptair, and Ethiopian Airlines, with return fares starting from £263 for the Manchester - Algiers routing.

Beyond serving as a destination in its own right, Algiers functions as a connecting hub for onward travel across Africa, with key connections including Johannesburg, Abuja, Dakar, and Douala, opening up broader continental access for both leisure and business travellers. The route is expected to be particularly significant for Algeria's diaspora communities in northern England, strengthening links between the UK and the African continent. Passengers departing Manchester will also have access to the airport's newly upgraded Terminal 2 facilities, following a £1.3 billion investment. British nationals should note that a visa is required prior to travel to Algeria and can be applied for through the Algerian Consulate General in the UK.
