Tourism surge as wildebeest migration begins

The Maasai Mara National Reserve is experiencing a tourism surge as this year’s wildebeest migration begins, with hotels reporting up to 95% bookings. A survey by The Standard (a leading Kenyan newspaper) revealed high hopes among investors after recent floods impacted some camps and lodges along rivers.

The peak season, from July to September, sees millions of wildebeests cross from Tanzania's Serengeti National Park to Kenya's Maasai Mara. This natural spectacle draws thousands of international and local tourists, eager to witness the world’s eighth wonder. The dramatic river crossings, where crocodiles prey on the wildebeests, are a key highlight.

The reserve’s management expects over 100,000 tourists this year. Chief Park Warden Stephen Minis noted a significant rise in tourists recently, with hotels inside and outside the reserve thriving.
