Namibia Tourism Board Targets Cruise Growth at Seatrade Global 2026
The Namibia Tourism Board (NTB) led a national delegation at Seatrade Cruise Global 2026 in Miami from 13 to 16 April, engaging international cruise operators as part of efforts to position Namibia as a competitive cruise destination. The delegation held strategic discussions with major operators, including TUI Cruises, Azamara Cruises, and Marella Cruises, with a focus on promoting the Ports of Walvis Bay and Lüderitz as sustainable, world-class cruise ports of call. NTB CEO Sebulon C. Chicalu described the event as "a strategic platform to showcase Namibia's tourism potential and strengthen relationships with global cruise operators."
The Namibian delegation included key national partners such as NAMPORT, the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board, Walvis Bay Municipality, and Lüderitz Waterfront, presenting a unified front to the global cruise industry. A notable milestone ahead of the event was NAMPORT's recent membership with the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA), strengthening Namibia's credibility within the sector and opening further collaboration opportunities with leading cruise lines. NTB's participation forms part of a broader strategy to grow cruise tourism as a driver of investment, infrastructure development, and inclusive economic growth across Namibia's coastal regions.
