Morocco set to near 20 million arrivals in 2025 beating 2026 goal

Morocco is on course to approach 20 million tourist arrivals by the end of 2025 and to exceed 120 billion dirhams in tourism receipts – a target originally set for 2026 – according to Tourism Minister Fatim‑Zahra Ammor. Through September, arrivals reached 15 million and foreign currency earnings topped 87 billion dirhams by August, with both metrics up 14%. Ammor said arrivals and revenues are rising at similar rates, amplifying economic impact and jobs.

Drivers include the global rebound in travel and Morocco’s heightened profile since the 2022 World Cup. Connectivity is expanding, with 120 new routes opened in 2024 and 80 in 2025, including the Atlanta–Marrakech link connecting via the world’s largest hub to 125 US cities. Authorities plan to add 1 to 1.5 million airline seats annually to reach 26 million visitors by 2030. Investment and capacity measures include the Cap Hospitality programme supporting hotel renovations (91 properties, 14,000 rooms) and plans to create 150,000 to 200,000 direct tourism jobs and train 150,000 young people by 2030. Officials view the 2030 World Cup as a catalyst for long‑term, value‑creating growth beyond the event.
