Hilton to Open 15 New Morocco Hotels as Country Accelerates 2030 World Cup Preparations

Hilton is set to more than double its footprint in Morocco, with plans to open 15 new hotels across the country - expanding its current portfolio of 12 operating properties. Tourism Minister Fatim-Zahra Ammor met with Hilton President and CEO Christopher J. Nassetta in Rabat to review the expansion plans, which include new brands such as Tapestry Collection by Hilton and Curio Collection by Hilton, with projects planned for Casablanca, Marrakech, and Nador. The development is expected to create more than 2,000 direct jobs and broaden Morocco's access to global booking and distribution networks. The announcement aligns with Morocco's tourism roadmap targeting 20 million visitors in 2026 and 26 million by 2030, when the country will co-host the FIFA World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal.

The Hilton expansion forms part of a broader infrastructure push to prepare Morocco for 2030. Airport capacity is being scaled up nationwide - backed by a €270 million African Development Bank loan - with upgrades planned for Marrakech, Agadir, Tangier, and Fez, targeting a rise in passenger capacity from 38 million to 80 million by the end of the decade. Stadium renovations and transport projects are progressing in host cities, while the government's Cap Hospitality programme is financing the modernisation of 25,000 hotel rooms by 2026. Morocco's public-private partnership model is central to meeting these targets, with Tourism Minister Ammor describing the sector as having entered a "real and lasting" growth phase.
