African Sun Acquires Full Control of Zimbabwe's Victoria Falls Hotel
African Sun has taken full ownership of The Victoria Falls Hotel in Zimbabwe, acquiring Meikles Hospitality's 50% stake in the partnership that has jointly operated the property since 1998. The move gives African Sun sole control of one of the region's most iconic hospitality assets, a property that dates to 1904 when it was built by the railway administration and has long been known as the "Grand Old Lady of the Falls".
The acquisition marks a significant shift in the ownership structure of a hotel that has been central to Zimbabwe's luxury tourism offering for over a century. African Sun's connection to the property stretches back to the early 1970s, when its predecessor company, Southern Sun, first took on the hotel's lease. With full operational control now consolidated under a single operator, the move could signal a new phase of investment and strategic direction for one of Victoria Falls' most recognised landmarks.
