Ibis Opens New 120-Room Hotel in Lagos' Lekki District

Ibis Hotel has opened a new 120-room property in Lekki Phase I, Lagos, commissioned by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and described as a further demonstration of investor confidence in Nigeria's commercial capital. The facility, developed by local investor Otunba Olufemi Okenla, marks the Ibis brand's second Lagos property, following its 165-room hotel on Allen Avenue in Ikeja, which opened in 2013. The new hotel features soundproof rooms and modern amenities built to international standards.

The opening is expected to create more than 150 direct jobs, with additional indirect employment opportunities for local suppliers across food, transport, laundry and artisan sectors. Governor Sanwo-Olu, represented at the commissioning by Secretary to the State Government Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, linked the investment to Lekki's growing economic significance - anchored by the Lekki Deep Sea Port, Free Trade Zone and a concentration of corporate and technology enterprises driving demand for quality hospitality services. The governor urged hotel management to prioritise local procurement and continue investing in the training and employment of young Lagosians.
