FlyNamibia has resumed its air service between Windhoek and Lüderitz, marking an important development for the coastal town's connectivity and economic prospects. The service, which restarted on October 16, operates five times weekly from Monday to Friday.

The route was suspended in January 2024 due to safety concerns at Lüderitz Airport, specifically related to mechanical issues with the facility's fire and rescue truck. The Namibia Airports Company has since resolved these issues, allowing operations to resume.

Managing Director André Campion emphasised the route's significance for the local community and economy, noting that a partnership with TotalEnergies has helped maintain these essential services. The daily flight departs Windhoek Eros airport at 07:15, arriving in Lüderitz at 08:05, with return flights departing at 12:15.

Lüderitz, known for its German colonial architecture, the ghost town of Kolmanskop, and rich diamond mining history, stands to benefit significantly from the improved air connectivity. The reinstated service aims to boost tourism and business travel to the historic coastal destination, supporting local economic development and strengthening Namibia's transportation infrastructure.
