Egypt posts record tourism with nearly 19m visitors in 2025

Egypt recorded a tourism high in 2025, welcoming nearly 19 million visitors – up 21 per cent year on year – according to the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities. The ministry said the performance, underpinned by security and stability, a clear sector strategy and service upgrades, outpaced the UN World Tourism Organization’s global growth estimate of about 5 per cent, with arrivals led through Cairo, Hurghada, Sharm El-Sheikh and Marsa Alam.

Visits to archaeological sites and museums reached 18.6 million foreign entries (excluding the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization and the Grand Egyptian Museum), a 33.5 per cent rise on 2024. Charter flights increased 32 per cent, while New Alamein City saw a 450 per cent surge, as flights operated from 193 origin cities worldwide in 2025; authorities said the results reflect ongoing investment in infrastructure and efforts to diversify beach, leisure and cultural tourism with a view to sustainable growth.
