Cape Town's V&A Waterfront to Open R230m Superyacht Marina in 2026

The V&A Waterfront has announced a R230 million investment in the Quay 7 Superyacht Marina, a purpose-built facility set to open in October 2026 at Cape Town's historic working harbour. Positioned in front of the new Cape Town EDITION hotel, the marina will offer eight berths accommodating superyachts of 40 to 90 metres, complete with floating jetties, full utility servicing, bonded fuel supply, and a dedicated concierge facility. The development is targeting Gold Anchor accreditation - an internationally recognised standard for marina excellence - making it the first such accredited facility in the immediate region.

The investment is designed to formalise Cape Town's standing as a working maritime hub rather than a scenic stopover, with V&A Waterfront CEO Graham Wood noting that 35 superyachts visited in the 2024/25 season alone, many remaining for six months to a year. Beyond leisure, the marina will serve Cape Town's catamaran manufacturing sector during the off-season, supporting builders such as Robertson and Caine, Two Oceans Marine, and Balance Catamarans. The broader economic impact spans fuel supply, provisioning, marine engineering, crew training, and logistics - with Quay 7 forming part of a wider V&A precinct expansion that also includes the refurbished Intercontinental Table Bay Cape Town and a new East Pier Helistop. With more than 30,000 vessels passing the Cape annually, the facility positions Cape Town as a credible year-round destination on the global maritime circuit.
