Borana Lodge guests takes part in Rhino ear notching and Elephant translocation

It has been a busy couple of months on the Lewa-Borana Landscape. 

In early February 20 rhino were darted in order to be ear notched and to have trackers implanted in their horns. Guests of Borana Lodge were invited along to take part in the activity, giving them an incredible opportunity to witness conservation in action. 

Earlier this month, nine troublesome bull elephants were darted and translocated from the Lewa-Borana Landscape to Tsavo East National Park, in South-Eastern Kenya. These nine bulls were well known in the area and had exceptional characters. See Borana Conservancy's instagram post for a farewell note to Bullet, the bull elephant. 

We are extremely pleased to give our guests the opportunity to take part in the "behind the scenes of conservation" activities which truly are unique.

When these unique conservationexcercises are not scheduled, Borana Lodge's guests can take part in a wide variety of conservation activities. These include joining Borana Conservancy's anti-poaching team on evening deployments and tracking rhino on foot with the conservancy's scouts.
