Zimbabwe: Family-owned and independently run Matetsi Victoria Falls welcomes Lianne Kelly-Maartens as Director of Sales & Marketing.

Over the course of 2023, our family-owners have been working with Sandy Pollard as acting-MD to build a very strong leadership team that will take Matetsi Victoria Falls to new heights.

We are delighted to share the news that Stian Commaille has been appointed General Manager of Matetsi Victoria Falls.

Matetsi Victoria Falls, a renowned luxury lodge located near the iconic Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, recently concluded an extensive soft refurbishment during the latter part of 2022 and the first quarter of 2023.

Family-owned and independently run, our beautifully designed luxury safari lodge, sits on the banks of the Zambezi river, within its own 136,000-acre pristine wilderness, Matetsi Private Game Reserve.

After five years of operating, we are grateful to have had enough feet through our doors (particularly as almost two of the five have been during a pandemic) to warrant us giving our beautiful lodge some well-deserved TLC. We are committed to keeping up the excellence that we strive for in all that we do and the promise to deliver this by way of an exceptional guest experience to our valued guests.

We are delighted to share the news of the establishment of an in-house anti-poaching unit on Matetsi Private Game Reserve. The latest step in our conservation journey, which we recently documented in this short video.

With Zimbabwe’s borders now open for international flights, Matetsi Victoria Falls has unveiled its very own private airstrip, to complement its existing private heli-pad, with a new buyout concept that will allow guests to safari in their own bubbles. Matetsi Victoria Falls is the only lodge in the region with a purpose-built licenced heli-pad and a private airstrip.

Zimbabwe is open for international flights! And we welcomed our first international guests to Matetsi Victoria Falls this week – all the way from the USA. They arrived on 06 October, with Ethiopian Airlines via Addis Ababa. This was the first international flight into Victoria Falls in over six months! Several other airlines are also operating international flights into Zimbabwe once again, including Emirates, Kenyan Airways, FastJet and SA Airlink into Harare. FastJet is also operating a reliable domestic route between Harare and Victoria Falls.

Our team on the ground in Victoria Falls continue to take care of the vast 136 000 acre, Matetsi Private Game Reserve, always ensuring a positive human presence as custodians of the wildlife that roam this land.
