Zambia in talks to boost Korean tourism links
The Zambian Embassy in Seoul has initiated discussions with the Korea Association of Travel Agents (KATA) to strengthen tourism collaboration and raise Zambia’s profile in the Korean outbound market. Chargé d’Affaires Wrayrose Hamweene met KATA chairman Lee Jin-Seok to position Zambia’s flagship attractions – including Victoria Falls and South Luangwa, Lower Zambezi and Kafue national parks – alongside the country’s cultural heritage and reputation for peace and hospitality.
Proposed actions include Zambia-focused tour packages, familiarisation trips for Korean trade and media, joint destination marketing and participation in the Zambia Tourism Expo (ZATEX) in June 2026. Mr Lee noted Zambia’s underrepresentation in Korea and suggested increased promotion via television, social media influencers and direct marketing, with a joint webinar tabled as an initial step. Both parties affirmed their commitment to deepen tourism ties and support broader cultural and economic exchange.
