Wilderness Safaris is delighted to have once again been a sponsor of and participant at the 8th annual Wild Shots Wildlife Photography Symposium held in Cape Town recently. Isaac Kalio, Wilderness Safaris Zambia Head Guide, was among the line-up of esteemed guest speakers, and captivated the crowd while enlightening them about the extraordinary Busanga Plains.

Wilderness Safaris has been supporting Wild Shots since it started in 2012. Wild Shots is the first centralised wildlife photography conference in South Africa, and brings together professional and amateur photographers, as well as nature enthusiasts, to learn from and be inspired by the best in the business.

Isaac’s experience of working in Zambia’s Kafue National Park for over a decade, coupled with his keen interest in wildlife photography, made his presentation particularly interesting and valuable, especially to those who have never visited this extremely remote region. In his presentation, using his strikingly unique images, he demonstrated its undeniable beauty as well as its importance, being home to many wildlife species, including 19 Vulnerable and Endangered species.

In support of nature photography, the company has been investing in ways to encourage photography amongst its guests. Expertly trained guides offer helpful hints and advice when required. The company’s partnership with Olympus, launched in 2018, also enables Wilderness Safaris guests to use some of the very best camera equipment based at the camps, in order to capture their unforgettable experiences. In addition to this, Wilderness Safaris runs an annual photo competition, which is open to everyone and directs its accumulated funds to conservation projects.
