Sustainable Development Goals Project Manager – A Tent With A View, Tanzania
The Company
After 30 years of bespoke, innovative safaris and commitment to conservation and communities in Tanzania, A Tent With A View has taken the step to become a lead in the movement towards UN SDG development in tourism.
We are looking for an extremely committed and energetic person to oversee our sustainable development projects. As a company we have committed very significant resources to projects which are focused on UN SDGs. We want to undertake projects which significantly improve lives in Tanzania, we want to develop powerful models to protect wildlife habitat and we want to help other operators create their own SDG centres with meaningful projects at the heart. We also want to educate our clients about the UN SDGs through information centres in each of our facilities.
The Role
This is a new post in a rapidly evolving environment and how you view stepping into the unknown will be a significant factor in whether this is the job for you. It is a lifestyle role as much as a job, potentially extremely fulfilling to the right person. We would not be counting hours, simply expecting full commitment. It will certainly include:
- Coordinating the implementation of each project.
- Developing ways to best connect clients to the SDG centres and project work.
- Developing and implementing a social media strategy.
- Being part of the fundraising team looking for support with the implementation costs.
It will probably involve uniting our projects with similar work in other places and being part of a wider movement to develop SDGs across tourism.
Whilst based out of one of our lodges/hotels, you will be moving between projects on a regular basis and need to be comfortable with a transient lifestyle.
Your Background
We are seeking someone motivated by sustainable development. Flexibility is key.
- You will need to show an ability to adapt to the inevitable challenges/opportunities we expect from the various evolving projects.
- Experience working on the ground in Tanzania or other parts of Africa would help.
- Experience in sustainable development projects and fundraising strategies would help.
- Vital is that you are a passionate individual who would like to be part of a sustainable tourism revolution.
The Package
The salary and overall package on offer will be competitive and dependant on the impact we believe you will have on our SDG centre plans. Moving within the compass of the company, you can expect to have most of your living expenses taken care of.
