St Helena Tourism Unveils New Destination Film for World Tourism Day

St Helena Tourism marked World Tourism Day with the launch of its brand-new destination film, Breathe St Helena – An Island Adventure Awaits, inviting travellers to discover the island through the eyes of the people who know and love it best.

Rather than simply showcasing St Helena’s spectacular landscapes, fascinating history and unique wildlife, the new film puts local people centre stage, capturing the personal stories, perspectives and passion of islanders who proudly call St Helena home.

From its dramatic volcanic landscapes and rugged coastline to its rich history, extraordinary biodiversity and warm community spirit, Breathe St Helena – An Island Adventure Awaits is an introduction to one of the world’s most remote destinations, told through local voices sharing what makes the island special and inspires such a strong sense of pride and belonging.

Jonathan Passaportis, Head of Tourism for St Helena Government said: “"World Tourism Day is an opportunity to celebrate what makes travel meaningful; the people we meet, the places we discover and the experiences that stay with us. For St Helena, these are the things that make our island so distinctive.

“Our new video, Breathe St Helena – An Island Adventure Awaits, brings that spirit to life. Proudly created on-island Saints, as St Helena residents are known, it captures an island where adventure, discovery and connection are part of everyday life. We hope this film inspires travellers to look beyond the familiar, step off the beaten track, make the journey and create an adventure of their own.”

The launch on World Tourism Day also highlights the important role tourism plays in connecting visitors with local communities and supporting the island’s economy, while encouraging responsible and meaningful travel.
