South Africa’s Tourism Minister in Singapore

Tourism Minister Patricia de Lille has outlined measures to boost South Africa’s tourism through investment promotion, improved air connectivity and visa reforms, as the country deepens engagement with Asian markets. Speaking in Singapore this week, De Lille met the Singapore Tourism Board, Singapore’s Minister of National Development Alvin Tan and industry stakeholders to grow arrivals from Singapore and South‑East Asia, while showcasing bankable tourism investment opportunities in South Africa.

De Lille reported that 9,827 visitors from Singapore travelled to South Africa in 2025, up 4.7% year on year, contributing to a record 10.48 million international arrivals last year. Connectivity was also in focus, with Singapore Airlines operating 12 weekly flights to South Africa and ambitions for additional capacity. De Lille also highlighted the fact that Singapore remains visa‑exempt. Minister de Lille’s South East Asia outreach programme continues in Malaysia and concluding in Indonesia, where South Africa will also participate at the ASTINDO Travel Fair on Friday 6 February 2025.
