Sossusvlei - clarification on self-drive access

After receiving contradictory news regarding access from the 2x4 to the 4x4 parking at Sossusvlei for self-drive vehicles we have sought further clarification. 

MEFT has confirmed that self-drive vehicles are currently still permitted beyond the 2×4 parking area. This means there is no immediate change to existing access arrangements at this stage.

We have also reached out directly to About Africa Co for clarification, as their earlier communication stated that self-drive access would no longer be permitted beyond the 2×4 parking area as of 15 December.

According to their feedback, everything remains as it is for now, with self-drive access still allowed. Any changes will only be implemented from mid-January, and they have confirmed that this will be communicated in advance via an official press release.

Key points to note for now:

• Self-drive access beyond the 2×4 parking area is still allowed.

• No changes take effect on 15 December.

• Any future changes are expected mid-January, subject to official notice.
