Skylong Resort Opens in Zanzibar as Island's Tourism Season Peaks
Skylong Resort Zanzibar officially opened on 16 September 2026, adding a new luxury property to the island's growing hospitality offering. Located on Zanzibar's beachfront with views over the Indian Ocean, the resort features multiple dining options, a spa and wellness centre, and adventure activities. The opening was attended by local officials including Acting Tourism Minister Mudrick Soraga, who noted the resort's expected contribution to job creation and the broader promotion of Zanzibar as an international tourism destination.
Project General Manager Eric Leo described the resort's mission as delivering an "unforgettable experience while respecting the beauty and culture of Zanzibar," with eco-friendly practices and community development initiatives central to its operations. Managing Director Ibrahim Mitawi of Showtime Zanzibar, who officiated at the launch, highlighted the resort's commitment to environmental preservation. The opening coincides with Zanzibar's peak tourism season, with local vendors and artisans also expected to benefit from increased visitor activity at the new property.
