Seychelles is set to host its Ocean Festival from 28-30 November, marking the return of the event after a five-year hiatus. Originally known as SUBIOS (Sub Indian Ocean Seychelles), the festival has expanded to include sailing, water sports, sustainable seafood gastronomy and diving activities under the theme "Safeguarding Our Oceans."

Tourism Seychelles' Marketing Director Bernadette Willemin emphasised the festival's role in promoting and protecting the country's marine assets through collaboration between NGOs, government entities and tourism establishments.

The event, sponsored by the Save Our Seas Foundation, will feature exhibitions at the National History Museum and Berjaya Beau Vallon Bay Resort, beach cleanups across the islands, and the premiere of a documentary "Coconuts to Conservation." Virtual reality experiences will allow visitors to explore underwater environments.

The Ministry of Environment plans to introduce snorkelling into school curricula from next year, with instructors offering lessons during the festival at Beau Vallon Bay. Activities will cater to both locals and tourists, with special focus on family engagement through community storytelling and craft workshops.
