Seychelles attends Moroni assembly - Comoros assumes Vanilla Islands presidency

Seychelles was represented by Bernadette Willemin, Special Advisor for Tourism, at the Vanilla Islands Association Annual General Assembly in Moroni, Comoros, where the presidency passed from Mauritius to the Comoros on 4 February 2026. The meeting reaffirmed regional cooperation and set strategic priorities to raise the international profile of Indian Ocean tourism.

Willemin underscored the need for small island destinations to remain visible and collaborative, noting the platform’s role in showcasing complementary offerings. Established in October 2013, the Association brings together Mayotte, La Réunion, Madagascar, Mauritius, Seychelles and the Comoros, and is led operationally by Pascal Viroleau of La Réunion. The leadership change is expected to support joint promotion and competitiveness across member islands.
