Pembezoni Camp Updates: Comfort, Serengeti Wilderness, and a Few New Additions
As many in the industry know, finding the balance between wilderness authenticity and guest comfort is always an evolving conversation - particularly in the Serengeti.
Over the past months, we’ve been making a few thoughtful updates at Pembezoni Camp, our small camp positioned along the Nyabogati River in the central Serengeti ecosystem. While the camp has always been appreciated for its quiet setting and strong connection to the surrounding landscape, we’ve continued refining the experience with both operational practicality and guest comfort in mind.
Located roughly 40 minutes north of Seronera, Pembezoni sits in an interesting position within the Serengeti. It remains accessible to the main wildlife circuits while also offering close access to the walking safari zones - something that continues to attract travellers looking to spend more time outside the vehicle and engage with the ecosystem at a slower pace.
The wildlife activity around camp has remained one of its defining features. The river frontage regularly brings in a variety of animals directly through camp, creating those unpredictable safari moments that remind guests (and operators) that this is still very much a wild setting.
One of the more notable recent upgrades has been the installation of flush toilets throughout camp. While perhaps not the most glamorous headline, anyone working in safari operations knows how much small infrastructure improvements can impact the overall guest experience - particularly for longer stays or mixed-generation groups.
The aim has been to improve comfort levels without changing the relaxed, understated atmosphere that has always defined Pembezoni Camp. In practical terms, it also helps us accommodate a broader range of travellers who may love the idea of a tented camp experience but appreciate a few added comforts once they arrive.
Operationally, the camp continues to run primarily on an exclusive-use basis, though we’ve also recently introduced a limited shared-basis option in response to changing travel patterns and increased interest from smaller groups and FIT travellers.
As always, it’s been interesting to see how guest expectations continue to evolve across the safari industry - with many travellers still prioritising genuine wilderness experiences, but increasingly looking for comfort, flexibility, and a sense of ease alongside them.
We look forward to welcoming industry partners, guides, and guests back to Pembezoni throughout the coming seasons.
