Nomad Tanzania announces Kusini Serengeti

Mid-December 2025 marks the arrival of Kusini Serengeti, Nomad Tanzania’s newest bush camp, nestled among granite kopjes in the remote southwest of the Serengeti. This is not just a new camp, it’s a return to the kind of safari that first defined Nomad: light-footed, small-scale, and deeply rooted in wilderness.

Set on the site of the former A&K camp, Kusini Serengeti is being reimagined with just six canvas tents, each rising quietly among whistling thorns and acacia. The camp’s mess area - funky, comfortable, and unmistakably Nomad - sits alongside a live-on kopje with sweeping views across woodlands and plains. It’s a place where wildlife meanders past your veranda and the rhythm of the bush sets the pace.

A year-round frontier

From December to March, Kusini can become an exciting gateway to the migration. The herds return to the southern Serengeti during the early part of the year for the calving season and can sometimes be found in the woodlands around camp or close by in the area. From April to November, the migration moves on, revealing Kusini’s quieter secrets: leopard territories among the kopjes, elephant paths through untouched woodland, and the kind of solitude that’s increasingly rare.

Beyond the tourist trail

Kusini Serengeti is part of a broader Nomad vision of an immersive journey through the Serengeti’s quieter peripheries, combining beautifully with Lamai and other Nomad camps. It’s a year-round commitment to exploration, with plans already underway to explore the surrounding kopje network with guided walks, sundowners, cookouts, and eventually, fly-camping.

Trust the process, you’re in good hands

The same team that recently transformed Greystoke is behind Kusini’s development, bringing a proven eye for detail and a deep understanding of place. While styled room shots are still in the works, the spirit of the camp is clear: think Kuro bush camp meets Serengeti Safari Camp - a blend of Nomad’s best, in one of the Serengeti’s most untouched corners.

Rediscovering pure exploration

Kusini Serengeti is for those who seek more than sightings and migration. It’s for travellers who want to dance around the edges, to feel the pulse of the wild, and to reconnect with the kind of safari that’s quietly transformative.
