Namibia Records 1.3 Million International Arrivals in 2025 Amid Slight Decline
Namibia welcomed 1,345,168 international visitors in 2025, a 6.9% decline from the 1,444,174 arrivals recorded in 2024, according to the Tourist Arrivals Statistical Report published by the Ministry of Environment and Tourism in June. Of total arrivals, 90.5% were tourists, with South Africa, Angola, Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Germany, the United States, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and France identified as the top ten source markets. Holiday travel accounted for 48.4% of visits, while the average length of stay was 13 nights - one night less than in 2024.
Despite the overall dip in arrivals, Namibia's national parks recorded growth in visitation, rising from 943,408 in 2024 to 994,780 in 2025, with Etosha National Park remaining the most visited, followed by Namib - Naukluft and Dorob national parks. Road transport remained the dominant mode of entry at 77.9%, with air travel accounting for 17.7%. The African Tourism Board has recently recognised Namibia as one of Africa's premier destinations, citing its landscapes, wildlife, and cultural heritage, while Environment Minister Indileni Daniel reaffirmed tourism's role as a key contributor to GDP, job creation, and foreign earnings.
