Namibia Gains Momentum with August Occupancy Surge
Namibia’s national hotel occupancy rate rose to 67.55% in August, marking the country’s highest monthly performance since before the pandemic, according to new data from investment firm Simonis Storm (SSS). This reflects a significant rebound from July’s 59.61% and a 4.5 percentage point increase compared to August 2024, signalling strong tourism sector resilience and seasonal demand recovery.
The year-to-date average occupancy now stands at 50.07%, surpassing the pre-pandemic 2019 average of 48.93%. SSS anticipates continued growth, with September—traditionally the peak tourism month—expected to exceed pre-COVID benchmarks. The firm also noted that the rise in tourist arrivals is boosting consumer spending, supporting the broader tourism value chain and contributing positively to economic performance.
