Namibia Expands Visa on Arrival and Plans Airport Enhancements to Bolster Tourism

Namibia expands its Visa on Arrival (VoA) programme to include 35 additional countries. Announced after the Cabinet’s 19th meeting in early September 2025, the revised policy includes nations such as Sweden, the Bahamas, Georgia, and the Dominican Republic. A N$400 administration fee will apply to manually processed VoA applications, aimed at encouraging the use of digital processes and improving efficiency at entry points.

In tandem with the visa reforms, Namibia is initiating major upgrades at Hosea Kutako International Airport, its primary air hub in Windhoek. Planned improvements target shorter processing times, streamlined immigration and customs procedures, and enhanced overall passenger experience. These developments form part of Namibia’s broader strategy to strengthen its status as a leading destination in Southern Africa, increase tourist arrivals, and support economic growth through a more accessible and efficient travel infrastructure.
