Mozambique Launches English Training Platform for Tourism Workers

Mozambique has introduced a new digital platform aimed at providing English language training for tourism professionals, with the goal of reaching five million users by 2030. The initiative, developed in partnership with Clube MozaBanco and UK-based education provider Perfectly Spoken, was unveiled in Maputo and is designed to improve communication skills among local tour operators at low cost.

Government officials and tourism leaders highlighted the platform’s potential to enhance service quality and competitiveness in a sector that has grown steadily in recent years. Mozambique’s tourism industry expanded from contributing 2.46% to 4.02% of GDP between 2021 and 2023. Early 2024 figures show further growth, with 66 new tourism businesses launched, over 400 new rooms added, and 559 jobs created in the first quarter alone.
