Mauritius Targets Indian Market with Three-City Trade Roadshow as Arrivals Rise 19%
The Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA) concluded a three-city trade roadshow across Bengaluru, Mumbai and Indore earlier this month, reinforcing its focus on the rapidly growing Indian outbound travel market. The events, held on 2, 3 and 5 June 2026, brought together a delegation of 26 Mauritian stakeholders - including DMCs, luxury hotels, activity providers and airline partners - and drew more than 300 travel agents, tour operators and trade media representatives across the three cities. The initiative comes against a backdrop of strong market performance, with Mauritius recording 25,930 Indian arrivals between January and mid-May 2026, a 19.1 per cent increase on the same period in 2025.
The roadshow formed part of MTPA's broader strategy to position Mauritius beyond traditional leisure travel, with presentations covering destination weddings, MICE, wellness and experiential offerings alongside accommodation options and air connectivity from India. MTPA Chairman Dinesh Burrenchobay noted that the roadshow was an opportunity to bring the island's "versatility and depth" directly to the attention of India's travel trade. The authority also reiterated its commitment to improving air access through closer collaboration with airline partners to increase flight frequencies and expand reach from additional Indian cities.
