Marrakech Sees Strong Tourism Growth with 71% Occupancy Rate in H1 2025

Marrakech recorded 5 million overnight stays in the first half of 2025, a 6% increase from the same period last year, according to Morocco’s Tourism Observatory. The city’s hotel occupancy rate reached 71%, up from 68% in H1 2024, reinforcing its status as the country's top tourist destination. June alone saw 784,073 overnight stays, with a 66% occupancy rate, slightly above the previous year's figures.

Tourism growth in Marrakech is being fuelled by both domestic and international travellers, with international stays rising 16% and national tourism up 5%. Agadir and Casablanca followed as Morocco’s second and third most visited cities, contributing to a national 13% rise in overnight stays. Improved infrastructure, sustained marketing efforts, and rising air connectivity have underpinned Marrakech’s strong performance, supporting tourism-related employment and highlighting its resilience in the post-pandemic recovery period.
