Madagascar update: Full return to normalcy
Following the protests of the Gen-Z movement on September 25th and a popular uprising against the government, Madagascar experienced a short period of political upheaval. On October 14th, the National Assembly voted to officially remove the president from office.
On Friday, October 17th, the Constitutional High Court in Madagascar confirmed the leadership of Colonel Mickael Randrianirina as President of The Transitional Council. The Council is forming a civilian Government which will review the constitution and prepare for fully democratic elections within 24 Months.
The President's investiture ceremony was held at the Constitutional High Court and attended by prominent international ambassadors and civil society leaders. Among those present were the ambassadors from the USA, European Union, UK, Germany, France, China, and Russia.
On October 20th, Mr. Herintsalama Rajoanarivelo, an experienced technocrat, was appointed Prime Minister, ensuring that the head functions of the state are both assigned.

- Germany, UK and France have removed travel advisories for Madagascar
- All international airlift to Madagascar has now fully returned to normal
- Domestic commercial and charter flights are operating as normal.
- All restrictions on movement, such as curfews, are fully lifted.
- Hotels, national routes, national parks, and tourism circuits are operating without disruption.
- All shops, banks, fuel stations, and private companies are operating as normal.
